BUG Site Now Up And Running Again
It will come as no surprise to hear that
the wintry weather has cramped our style during this last week or two,
and that the bookies are offering short odds on a white Christmas. The
past year has found us riding west to Wisbech, south to Downham Market,
east to Swaffham and north to Wells, and lots of other spots within
that range. Should anyone like to suggest a ride, please let me or Pete
know. For instance once the spring arrives it would be great to catch a
train to Ely and ride back from there.
On Thursday 16th September BUG joined the King’s Lynn Cycling Club and
the Cycle Touring Club manning stalls on Tuesday Market Place for the
start of the Tour of Britain King’s Lynn to Yarmouth stage. The “Get
Cycling” message was spread, and although I haven’t noticed an
avalanche of new bikers, there certainly seem to be more of us about.
As most of you will know, our web site genius Neil Rodger passed away
in July, and is much missed by all of us. His daughter Claire has been
doing the updates, and is attempting to train me up to take over. I’m
afraid it’s an uphill struggle for her, and she has my sympathy.
However, as she has experience of working with children with learning
difficulties, there may be light at the end of the tunnel yet. I have a
daughter-in-law who is a whizz kid on computers, and has offered to
hold my hand while I struggle up the (for me) steep learning curve. On
every bulletin we include a social meeting on the second Thursday of
the month at The Ouse Booze, but because so few people have turned up
over recent months we have decided to take it off as a fixture, and
leave it up to individuals to get together by mutual arrangement.
Here’s wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year, hoping to see you
out in the warm sunshine of 2011.

A little explanation on ride timings. Morning rides
including stops means we usually return to Lynn by 2pm. Day
rides of 30-40 miles mean we are back in Lynn between 3pm and
4pm While 40-50 miles means a return time of 4pm-5pm. However
these are only guidlines, it naturally depends on how long we
spend at lunch and on other stops and, of course, we go at
the pace of the slowest rider. If you wish to drive to
Lynnsport and get on your bike there, car parking is
available (at present free).
